Therapy Studios’ Shannon Albrink honored with Rising Star Award at the Rise Awards

Shannon Albrink, Therapy

Out of an impressive shortlist of talented women in the broadcast and media industry, Therapy Studios’s Shannon Albrink was honored with the Rising Star Award at the Rise Awards. Announced in Amsterdam at the 2019 IBC, the world’s most influential media, entertainment and technology show, the award sponsored by Avid, recognizes stand-out newcomers considered to be stellar performers, innovators, and emerging leaders in the industry who have demonstrated exceptional and ongoing achievements and made significant contributions to their business.

Since joining Therapy Studios right out of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts nearly 3 years ago, Albrink has become an integral part of the company’s editorial team, lending her skills to everything from music videos for chart-topping artists to documentaries about record breaking flights. Most notably, she recently traveled to New York, NY to speak at the Youtube Space on Women Working in VR after being the lead editor on a VR series entitled “Courage to Question” for Google UN. The series, captured and created by an all-female crew, identifies and celebrates four women’s rights defenders who are all building movements against human trafficking, mass incarceration, child marriage and sexual violence. In addition to kicking off deeper conversations about women’s rights and gender inclusion, the series went on to win “Best Film” at the UN Awards.

The young editor is thrilled to be the first ever to receive the honor in the Rise Awards’s inaugural year. The not-for-profit group for Women in Business advocates for gender diversity within the broadcast manufacturing and services sector and aim to “open up more opportunities for female broadcast professionals.”
