Join the HPA for the first session in a webinar series exploring the history and future of color in cinema. In our inaugural session, color film expert and historian Dr. Barbara Flueckiger will take us on an educational journey from the origins of color in cinema up through the advent of chromogenic color film. This virtual lecture will conclude with a live Q&A with Dr. Flueckiger, whose career has been focused on the history and science of color in film.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Barbara Flueckiger was a professor for film studies before becoming the founder and CEO of Scan2Screen US in California. After almost two decades of research into film colors and scanning she and her team developed an advanced multispectral scanner and workflow that delivers scientifically accurate results. For her research she has received several awards, among them the most prestigious Advanced Grant from the European Research Council and the Lindner Medal of the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers. She is also the founder of the Timeline of Historical Film Colors in Photography and Film filmcolors.org, a comprehensive online resource.
